I've designed, implemented, and guided security-centric solutions for a variety of businesses both large and small for many years. Having a career in information technology that covers more than two decades, I've experienced the benefits that changes in various technologies have brought. Additionally, I've responded to incidents that arise when their various features and weaknesses are exploited. Sound network and systems design and company policies notwithstanding, successful attacks against companies frequently result from tricking users into trusting harmful software. Employee misconduct can also play a part. The potential to release malware into an environment exists at all rungs of the employee ladder. The software I produce uses Microsoft's .Net framework and targets computers in Active Directory domains. Since Windows computer users are often targeted by malware authors, it's important to be able to analyze usage and behavior of suspicious software. There are no unsafe third party custom libraries in my applications and they don't require you to make insecure host modifications.
